Since the global lockdown began, our team has been working behind the scenes on projects to support and give back to the Ben Sherman community, which spanned across projects supporting efforts to donate up to 50,000 face masks to frontline healthcare workers to creating fun and unexpected giveaways.

We partnered with @AnimalCrossFits because we wanted to give other creatives and gamers who might be losing their minds during this time the chance to experience the game and create within Animal Crossings: New Horizons.  Scroll down to learn more about  @AnimalCrossFits and how he got into making outfits for Animal Crossing avatars. 

Q. Tell us a little about you. What’s your name, what do you do?

A. My name is Carlo Castro, I’m living in Toronto, and I run the account @AnimalCrossFits. The Instagram account has given me something fun and exciting to do while in quarantine

Q. Tell us about your experience in your industry/work.

A. I’m currently a marketing student set to graduate in June of this year. I’ve always had a passion for clothing and wish to become a marketing associate for a clothing brand.

Q. What are some other interests you have? Tell us a little about them.

A. Some interests other than fashion are playing guitar and singing

Q. How did you get into designing clothing for Animal Crossing? 

A. My friend showed me this outfit that he designed on the game, and I already had a Nintendo Switch, so I thought I would give it a shot.

Q. Do you have an online shop in Animal Crossing or somewhere we can access some more of your designs?

Q. Do you mainly recreate existing styles or do you have some originals as well?

A. I recreate existing styles all the way from high end brands to even custom clothing made by influencers. I like to recreate styles that I would wear or what people request.

Q. Any advice for anyone just getting into Animal Crossing - Any do’s/don’ts?

A. Not much advice as Animal Crossing is such a big space. There are endless things to do in the game and you can play it how you want to play it.

Q. Who is your biggest influence when it comes to style (real world or virtual)

A. Currently Nigo has the biggest influence on my style in the real world. Virtually through Animal Crossing, I have a broad sense of style and recreate styles that I think most people would like. 

Q. What is your favorite piece of Ben Sherman clothing and why?

A. My favourite piece would have to be the Harrington Jacket. I like to go for pieces that can go well with different types of pants and the jacket fits that criteria.

Q. How would you describe your personal style, what are key-pieces you can't live without?

A. Earlier I said that Nigo has the biggest influence on my style, and my clothing consists of work jackets and baggy cargos and straight-cut denim. It can be said as an Americana/Workwear style.

Q. Any advice for those seeking an outlet during the pandemic?

A. Pick up Animal Crossing! There’s much more to do than my take on the game which is designing. It’s a fun virtual world where you can decorate your house/island, find rare items and villagers, and more.
